Open Letter to Linfar

Linfar,

I trust your motives are honest, but you doubt ours are. Do you not see this?

If a George Bush clone changed his party registration to Democrat, and ran for president, should he automatically get our votes?

I really want to understand you. But I don't. Please explain why you are trying to coerce us into voting a certain way. Voting is supposed to be about choosing; it's supposed to be about freedom.

Give us reasons to vote FOR a candidate, instead of attacking our credibility.

Today you complain Alegre has not written enough diaries on MyDD lately. Recently you complained of the diaries she wrote on MyDD.

I sense you are honestly puzzled by some of us, but please explain what is motivating your campaign to discredit Alegre, and others like her.

Sincerely,
Me

Re: Uh huh (2.00 / 6)

I think the narcissism comments stem from the fact that you are demanding that everyone take the time to convince you to vote for Obama.  How about you look at his policy positions, compare them to McCain's, and make up your own mind?  If that leads you to choose McCain then so be it, but if that's the case I have no idea why you were planning on voting for Clinton since they are ideological opposites on so many issues.

Re: Unfair to call this fake narcissism. (2.00 / 9)

I totally doubt that the motives of many, if not most, PUMAz are honest.

It is a PUMA that wrote the following, and it was a site chock full of PUMAz where NOT A SINGLE PERSON OTHER THAN PSYCHODREW (who is NOT a PUMA) spoke out against it:

IMO, anyone worried about the court, abortion rights and civil rights for the LGBT community should have supported Hillary and so I am very immune from their calls to  "think about the courts" now.  I am 51 and I am not gay.  All my life I fought for the rights of women, African Americans and gay and lesbian people.... and now I feel that all those groups have thrown me and their real defender, Hillary, off the bus.
I hate to sound so militant, but don't whine to me about the fucking courts NOW.  Let these people fight for their rights themselves and maybe next time they willl not take their champions for granted.

I won't bother attributing the quote. The author is a member here (unless she has been banned), if she wants she can claim her own nasty words.

There is no need to start a campaign to discredit such persons...they do a perfectly good job of it themselves.

Linfar, unlike the supposed Hillary supporters referred to, is doing what her candidate asked her supporters to do....continue to support her by joining her in the fight to defeat John McCain and see the Democrat elected President. There is no more need for her to defend her position than there is for Hillary to defend hers. THEY ARE DEMOCRATS.

I applaud Linfar for speaking out against those who used to be her, and Clinton's, allies. Clinton herself would be proud of Linfar....and would surely sincerely thank her for her continued support.

As to this diary...I sincerely believe that there is absolutely nothing sincere about it.

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (2.00 / 3)

She was torn to bits on 'Hillary's Voice' for, ironically, doing EXACTLY what Hillary's own voice asked her supporters to do.

She was insulted in a variety of ways....even down to people bringing up her personal life and doubting her mental stability.
Then she was banned from the site.
Banned from 'Hillary's Voice' for promoting what Hillary asked of her supporters.

The complete lack of logic possessed by the PUMAz is utterly astounding. Clinton must be appalled by their behavior. She must be doubly appalled by the fact that many of them are proclaiming their intent to for McCain in support of her! That must make her vomit a little bit every time she hears of it.

Good grief.

I say maybe in a year or two, but not by November.

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (2.00 / 11)

Well, I was scanning down the diaries list and nearly fell off my chair. C'mon now--this is around the bend. I cannot believe the vitriol coming at me for supporting the nominee of the democratic party even tho he was not my first choice. That's the democratic way. I believe in democracy--not the bush kind but the Hillary and Obama kind. you know, you fight as hard as you can, you throw in everything but the kitchen sink and then you support who wins. I learned this in grade school. I am glad we are dealing in words and not guns--all I can say. Lin walks away scratching head...

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (2.00 / 2)

I respect what you are doing linfar.  Being such a prominent supporter/blogger of HRC many of your so-called friends thought you would just jump ship with them instead of taking a rational approach to the election.  You deserve a ton of credit for standing up for what you believe in and to not let any one pressure or guilt trip you to switching to the wrong side.  Thank you!

I don't want this to be taken in the wrong way, but you're stating what should be the obvious.  I can't quite figure out why anyone would need you to explain this.

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (2.00 / 4)

Yes, it is the obvious. But something happened for women in this primary fight. First of all, I think a lot of women got involved who never were before. And second of all, women got close to something they thought was out of reach. And I think Hillary became a crusade. A symbol of all the million ways women feel dis-enfranchised, put down, run over and generally misused. And then the DNC did the same damn thing. Everyone her knows I think the party behaved badly. But not backing the nominee now will not change that. When Obama is elected a lot of  people, and hillary will be leading the way, are going to make sure that the problems with this primary will never happen again. And that's the thing I just don't get. McCain could care less. He will do Nothing. He is almost the complete opposite of all Hill stands for.

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (2.00 / 1)

I have only briefly visited the PUMA frequenting sites, and I have to say, I have never seen such virulent navel gazing or self-defining gas-bagging in all my years on the blogs?

Seriously, at the height of the Monica wars, when the right wingnuts on Free Republic were screaming "what about the children" and "The Rule of Law", they were more coherent then these petulant children throwing thier McTantrum.

It DOES show, that the most deeply felt anger is a personal one, cause sheer politics alone is hard to imagine people who consider themselves progressives or democrats going this far to the dark side?

I DO think these are in some case older women who have focused all the crap dealt them in their lives into one great culiminating event..cause, for the life of me, how can they hate Obama that much?

These folks are scary, even by FreeRepublic standards....

Linfar, you're gutzy for going those places, but you are better off here with the sane people.

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (1.00 / 2)

I think everyone has a right to vote for who they want to, Linfar included.

Even though she is a big hillary supporter, she chose to get on board and follow hillary's lead to support obama. That's fine.

Others, like myself, are not there and have chosen a different right. That's fine too.

That's what makes America great - we can belong to one party, vote in another, agree with a person or disagree with someone else.

I still plan to vote downticket democrat, but will support McCain. Some others I know that were Hillary supporters want Cynthia McKinney or plan to stay home or will write in Hillary's name.

If Hillary is on the ticket, I will vote for that ticket. If Hillary ran as an Independent, I would vote for her as an independent.

Everyone has the right to do what s/he wants to do.

Well supporting McCain is not welcome on this site at all.

Have a problem, write to admin.

Re: Open Letter to Linfar (2.00 / 1)

I wouldn't say it's not welcome, it's just irrelevant.  Like I'm not sure why the same people keep showing up and saying they're going to vote for McCain.  And they keep doing it.

If they didn't think they had an audience, who would they vote for?  Would they even vote?  I doubt it.

Cat - thanks for addressing an issue we have all been thinking about. Linfar was once one of the shining stars...so thanks. The questions needed to be asked.
